Pags just sent this great item to me - thank you SO much for this. Pags had a problem posting the link - I can't get it to work either. So, I've done the next best think - provided a link to the page the link in question is listed on: entertainment1.sympatico.msn.ca/TV_Guide/Soaps/From there, click on to "Memo to Academy: '08 Emmy Dream Ballot (link on right hand side) TVGuide.CA (Canada) posted its 'dream' ballot for the 2008 Emmy Nominations. Jay is listed in the Outstanding Younger Lead Actor category. I've been e-mailing TPTB at Days and NBC, for the past several weeks, that Jay deserves an Emmy nod - he's the single best actor on the show. He's outstanding. TV Guide confirms what we've always known - Jay's an awesomely talented actor, one deserving recognition. I'll be forwarding this link to TPTB at Days and NBC - they need to be reminded of the talent they have in Jay. Steve

Jay will never get the nod. According to that interview with Deidre Hall, the people who vote are the cast and crew of the soaps. So since NBC only has Days, they basically don't stand a chance, which is why she never even bothers submitting herself.
I think he deserves one, but I don't think we'll ever see it happen.

So since NBC only has Days, they basically don't stand a chance, which is why she never even bothers submitting herself. I think he deserves one, but I don't think we'll ever see it happen. To quote that worn out cliche, never say never. Jensen Ackles, Patrika Darbo, Kyle Lowder and James Reynolds all got that nod (with James being the most recent), as did James Stevenson (from Passions) - no reason Jay can't, as well. Esp. with a new submissions system that's dropped the pre-nominations lists (naming two actors, for nomination consideration, per category per show) previously submitted by each soap. Hopefully, the new system will insure the selection of nominees is based more on actual merit, and less on how many soaps/pre-nominee names a network can submit per category. (I've read the new system was put into effect, due to favoritism - that favored performers were allegedly receiving the most nods, not necessarily the performers most deserving.) Steve

Hey, Mindy. Yes, it was posted on SoapCity in its own separate thread. It's truly great to see Jay singled out for his work. I've e-mailed TPTB re Jay and the Emmys quite a few times. Now we can send the link - it might be easier to send the one from SoapCity (the direct on to TV Guide Canada's a bit too long.)

WooHoo! Wonderful news! I'm ready to send some letters! Is this posted on SoapCity yet? Just sent out another set of e-mails re this - along with the TV Guide Canada link. (I had sent out a set, re Jay deserving an Emmy nomination, just hours before Pags sent me the 'wish list' link. And that wasn't the first set I'd sent out, either.) Days has something special in Jay. We know it - various publications know it. I feel that Ed Scott knows it - a lot has changed for Jay, story line-wise, since Scott came on board. He's become a lead performer on Days, his character is being involved in different story lines - the writing (overall) for Philip has improved dramatically the past few months. In return, Jay's been seizing those stories, those scripts, and delivering, time and again, with what I personally feel is his best career work to date. As truly good as he's always been, he just keeps getting better. He's the very best on the show - no one deserves that nomination more than he does. And I'm so thankful that TV Guide Canada had the good sense to point that out. Steve

I think Jay should sweep daytime ceremonies! Now, I'm a complete stupid head. I didn't get his talent at first. I started watching Days in December '06, and was figuring out family lines, etc - so, when Jay was unwrapped, I just thought who's this - do I need to know? And he seemed so emotionally wacked - I paid little attention. Then, without knowing what happened, I started being scared, seriously freaked, when he'd show up. Then, when he played out the passion to Belle, and showed his guts/intestines on the screen, finally........ I snapped out of it, and realized that I've just been buying his work without question. Then I realized how totally hot he is. (!) That's the part about what a stupidhead I am. So, does he look as good as he decides to look? I think maybe so. So - give the dude some awards! PLEASE!
