Now that Jay is back working at the NBC studios resuming his role of Philip Kiriakis on Days of our Lives, there are various people we can write, to express our support - and show TPTB just what a tremendous talent, and asset, he is to the network.
(1) WRITE JAY
We know, from Jay's first tenure on Days, that both Corday and NBC pay very close attention to the volume of mail a performer receives. (This acts as a gage of an actor's popularity.) It's truly important, then, to write Jay, c/o Days/NBC.
Jay just had a birthday - one reason to contact him, and add to that tally. You can also drop him a line, to let him know what a great job he'd doing. Send him holiday cards, birthday cards, letters, gifts. Let him know how you feel about Philip, what you thought about past projects, what you'd love to see him do, career-wise, down the road. Talk about yourself - how you discovered him and his talent. There are so many reasons to contact Jay - and, Iknow Jay loves to hear from you - and he truly appreciates the support.
Write as often as you want - send a message to TPTB - this very visible form of support will certainly strengthen his position with the production and the network.
Please write Jay at the following address:
JAY KENNETH JOHNSON
c/o Days Of Our Lives
NBC-TV
3000 W. Alameda Ave
Burbank, CA 91523
(2) WRITE KEN CORDAY
Corday Productions owns and produces Days of our Lives. Write Mr. Corday, let him know how much you enjoy seeing Jay back on Days. (I've written Corday three times, to day, before Jay's return, just after his debut, and recently expressing my views on the writing of Philip.) When contacting Ken, let him know you'd love to see Jay appear in various NBC prime time series DURING his second turn on Days. It's truly a great way to 'cross promote' Corday's series in the prime time hours.
When working on the Save North Shore campaign, one thing we learned, from staff members - be polite, constructive, postive. (If you treat people with respect, they are far more likely to listen to you, take what you say to heart, than if you vent.)
Show Corday what a tremendous asset he has in Jay. A production company doesn't make repeated attempts to woo back a onetime contract player unless it fully recognizes that actor has the power to bring viewers. (Of course, in Jay, Corday has a very talented actor - one who can add layers and shading to a complex story line.)
If many of us write Corday, it would send a loud and clear message: we support Jay, and want to see him in prime time endeavors during his contract period. (I've let Corday know - I have ONLY returned to the show, because of JAY. I've made that very clear. I've also mentioned that many Jay supporters have returned - for the very same reason.) I've told Corday he's extremely lucky to get such a gifted and popular actor back on the set. And - I've expressed, each time, how I HOPE he allows Jay to continue those prime time, while bringing Philip K. to life during our afternoons. (I've stressed the benefit such appearances will have on Days - i.e., all that Days PR connected with that prime time appearance.)
Write to Ken Corday at:
Mr. Ken Corday,Producer
c/o Days Of Our Lives
NBC-TV
3000 W. Alameda Ave
Burbank, CA 91523
NOTE: A way to gain further attention for Jay, at NBC - - write:
RE: Jay Kenneth Johnson
. . . on the envelope. (The letter's going to Ken, and NBC will know it's regarding Jay.)
(3) WRITE HOGAN SHEFFER
Hogan's the new head writer at Days. Sheffer was very vocal, through much of 2006, in hoping that Jay would return to reprise his role of Philip.
I've written Hogan once, very recently, re my thoughts and concerns of the writing of Philip. As with my letters to Ken Corday, I've let Mr. Sheffer know I'm only back, as viewer, because of Jay. (In fact, I mentioned that days Jay isn't on, I don't watch.) I've also expressed to Hogan how very, very impressed I am with Jay's work - that he's an exceptional talent, one deserving a front burner story line.
Write to Hogan Sheffer at:
Mr. Hogan Sheffer
c/o Days Of Our Lives
NBC-TV
3000 W. Alameda Ave
Burbank, CA 91523
NOTE: A way to gain further attention for Jay, at NBC - - write:
RE: Jay Kenneth Johnson
. . . on the envelope. (The letter's going to Hogan, and NBC will know it's regarding Jay.)
(4) WRITE KEVIN REILLY
Mr. Kevin Reilly is President of NBC Entertainment. He's the person in charge of the network's prime time division. Why write Kevin Reilly? To make him fully aware of the loyal and substantial fan base that's followed Jay back to Days - or, the fans that stayed with Days who welcome him back with excitement. Jay is already a major asset to Corday and NBC daytime. If allowed to continue with prime time guest shots - a recurring role in a hit show would be ideal - he'd bring his audience (us) to those appearances. We could make Mr. Reilly aware of Jay's career - his stint on North Shore, his various guest shots, etc. When Jay appears in the daytime polls (SOD, SOW, etc.) we can include copies in those letters - show him how popular he is.
Mr. Reilly can be reached at the following address:
Mr. Kevin Reilly, Pres.
NBC Entertainment
3000 W. Alameda Ave
Burbank, CA 91523
Also, I found an e-mail for Kevin Reilly:

Please take a few moments of your time to write and support Jay. The more letters we collectively write and send, the better for Jay. WE can send a message to the powers that be. NBC wanted Jay back in a big way. Let's work to make his return work for Jay, in the best way possible. He's given us so much - his talent, his personality. There are so many ways we can show support, make him feel our appreciation. All are truly important to Jay on a personal level. Writing the above, however, in a combined effort, is the one way our power as a united viewing audience can make a positive impact on Jay's professional future. And I know, our united efforts would mean the world to Jay.
Thanks for the continued support! And - welcome back to JKJ-NOW!
