I really hate that the writers had JKJ come back as Philip with a "new" face. I mean, he was the original Philip! We'll never get to see any flashbacks now. Is there some way they can correct this?

I agree, it's a shame how we probably won't see any flashbacks of Jay's first run on the show.
If the writers wanted to show flashbacks of 'Philip's old face' they should probably use some scenes of Kyle Brandt's tenure on the show. Though I highly doubt the writers would do that.

I wrote a long reply to this post and it didn't post. Ah well, let me just say that I totally agree with you. It was so ridiculous to have Philip come back with a new face when Jay is the real Philip. There's so many awesome flashbacks we're getting cheated out of with so many favorites. Philip has priceless scenes with Chloe, Kate, Victor, Lucas, Roman, and even Nicole. I say we write them and tell them to drop the whole new face thing. Stranger things have happened in Soap Operaland.

As soon as Jay agreed to return, they should have immediately shelved plans re the 'new face.' Makes no sense at all to keep those flashbacks off the screen, when Jay worked with so many cast members, both back 'when' and 'now'.

I hate they went with the new face storyline. They could just rewrite history and make like it never happen.

I hate it, but I really hope they give us some Phloe flashbacks anyways. Doesn't anyone find it funny, though, that when JKJ came into the role the first time, it was after Philip underwent plastic surgery after he was beat up? Similar scenario for his return. Either Victor's plastic surgeon is very unoriginal and can only do one face, or JKJ's really has the "ideal" face. I'm going with the latter.

That's really funny. I never thought about that. Although it's ironic, I sure wish they would scrap that whole "new face" SL so we can have some amazing Philip Flashbacks. I've written the studio about this, but no response. lol.

It's truly a waste, because they could have used those flashbacks to have properly explored the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder story (have Philip thinks back to 'fun times' with Mimi, and juxtaposes those moments with his rough treatment of her . . . Could have shown Philip realizing he himself wasn't sure what was going on within himself.) Also, with John, Lauren, Nadia and Ari all working on the show, think of all the flashback moments they could explore - esp. as Philip grows powerful at Titan, and, possibly, the power goes to his head . . . The show has a rich backlog of moments, and wrote itself into a ridiculous, totally unnecessary corner . . .
If TPTB can forget that Lexi was kicked out of the hospital for toying with Carrie's medical records, and make her chief of staff, they could forget a face transplant . . .

LOL at TPTB forgetting Lexie getting banned from the hospital. But I agree, since they seem to forget important details or they just assume the viewers don't care about them, they could easily erase the whole face transplant.

I really like Renee, and her character Lexi, but that character turnaround was just too much to deal with, with a straight face. If University Hospital can fire a doctor who tampers with patient charts and files, then turn around and make her chief of staff, anything is possible - including a forgotten face transplant.
